Well, I do “eat a keto diet,” BUT I don’t have any food restrictions. I do have plenty of food boundaries though!

What’s the difference? A restriction is something placed on you by an external authority. It is meant to keep you safe and/or keep others safe (e.g. driving speed limits) but it’s decided by an authority outside of you, and you submit to that authority. You might even agree with it, but the energizing experience of it is one of following the rules, and it often leads to feelings of deprivation, disempowerment, and misery. 

We very naturally want to rebel to experience our own freedom and autonomy. It’s human! And this is what I like to call INTELLIGENT RESISTANCE. This is Wisdom inside of you, calling bullshit. Listen to her!

So what’s the solution? Food Boundaries.

A boundary is a personal decision that you make as an act of self-care, with the intention of amplifying both the safety and the pleasure in your life.
